JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Project Officer (Nutritionist).

Project / Department Title: FS&ER Program.

Direct supervisor / Reports to: Project Manager.

Job Purpose:

The nutritionist is responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating nutrition-specific Activities. He /She conceives and supervises interventions to restore, protect, or improve the food consumption and nutritional status of beneficiaries. He /She participates in the Nutrition Cluster Meeting and any other meeting related to malnutrition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, plan and implement the nutrition component of GFA program to prevent and treat acute malnutrition, micronutrient deficiencies, and other forms of malnutrition in BNFs.
  • Provide the needed training and capacity building to IYD’s nutrition team and community health workers.
  • Represent IYD in Nutrition Cluster meetings and any other related meetings.
  • Serve as IYD’s focal point in regard to nutrition issues.
  • Report to Nutrition cluster using 4Ws.
  • Actively engage in developing visibility material contents and training materials for Family-MUAC activities.
  • Participate in internal/external workshops and seminars, and nutrition-related forums.
  • Provide recommendations to orient the IYD program’s policy, strategy, and targeting with regard to nutrition.
  • Contribute to internal reporting and analyses of program outcomes.
  • Include nutrition considerations in programs by facilitating, designing, and implementing strategies to improve the nutritional status of household members.

Qualification (Education – Work Experience):

Essential:
  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Nutrition or Public Health or related fields.
  • Two to four years of progressive professional Nutrition / Public Health or equivalent professional
  • Possessing a good capacity to analyze and summaries complex situations.
  • Ability to make relevant decisions within a given framework.
  • A sound understanding of the project cycle, and establishing appropriate (SMART) objectives and indicators are required.
  • Good organizational, managerial, planning, and reporting skills.
  • Strong capacities to recruit, manage, coach, and motivate a small team of nutritionists.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
Desirable:
  • Master’s degree in Nutrition or Public Health or related fields.
  • More than four years of progressive professional Nutrition / Public Health or equivalent professional
