JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Gender and Protection Officer (Turkish National Only).
Project / Department Title: Programs.
Direct supervisor / Reports to: Programs Manager.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Work with all the Program Managers/coordinators to ensure that protection mainstreaming principles are applied during all the phases of the project.
- Provide technical support and supervise the application of protection mainstreaming in the field across different sectors and interventions.
- Developing and conducting training packages for staff and affected communities on protection-related topics.
- Work with IYD colleagues in other sectors, offices or programs to identify and capitalize on opportunities to integrate or improve integration of activities or response.
- Produce a monthly report on the application of protection mainstreaming IN IYD programs in his/her area of responsibility and way forward for the program manager.
- Comply with IYD’s Code of Conduct, program requirements and operational policies at all times and report any concerns through the appropriate mechanism.
- Work with the programs to identify and address gender equality issues specific to the team.
- Enhance the quality of the proposal in terms of the GBV and protection aspect and ensured that they are well addressed in the proposal.
- Collaborate with program managers on integrating the GBV in the program implementation through.
- Take a lead role in raising awareness about the organization’s PSEA policies and procedures (as above) and provide advice to staff, workers and other representatives of IYD on these matters, ensuring that staff understands their obligation to report a breach of policy.
- Raise awareness on reporting procedures and occasionally receive reports on PSEA, responding in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures, providing referral, or next steps advice and support.
- Make sure all reports are reported to the CD.
- Any other duties as requested by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree preferably in a relevant area (e.g. social sciences, sociology, anthropology, psychology or politics).
- Strong written and oral communication skills and fluency in English.
Abilities:
- Sharp time management skills.
- Strong ethics, with an ability to manage confidential data.
- The ability to work in a systematic and organized manner.
- The ability to use Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint in a professional way.
- Fluency in Arabic and English, both written and verbal.
- Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Good organizational, multitasking and time-management skills.
- Develops and encourages new and innovative solutions.
Experiences:
- A minimum of three years of experience working with NGOs or INGOs in a similar sector.
- At least 3 years of experience in protection programs.
- Experience in GBV case management is required.
Physical and personality traits required:
- Flexible and able to work well under pressure and comply with donors & partnership deadlines is essential.
- Capable of working collaboratively with team members to achieve objectives.
- Good communication and management skills in different levels of communications, and must be approachable, good listener, easy to talk.
